REDEFINING STRENGTH

When Silence Starts to Suffocate

CONFIDENT LIFT | 10.12.25

“Silence can feel holy until it starts to suffocate you.”
Excerpt from my upcoming book, The Weight of Warfare

For years, I carried the labels that came with honor and exhaustion alike — “strong friend,” “strong leader,” “strong mom,” “strong woman of God.”

But rarely was that strength celebrated as surrender.
It was usually mistaken for self-sufficiency.

People saw the confidence, but not the cost.
They saw the platform, but not the pressure.
They saw the smile, but not the sleepless nights spent on a bathroom floor, whispering through tears,
“God… how much longer?”

I learned early to stop crying and hold it all together.
But adulting changed everything.

This year, God began to show me that strength is not the absence of struggle; it’s the courage to kneel in it.
True strength is not about composure — it’s about communion.
It’s not about how much you can carry, but how deeply you can surrender.

REDEFINING STRONG

Scripture reminds us that:

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)

God never asked us to be invincible.
He asked us to be available — to let His strength shine through our cracks, to let His presence meet us in our weakness.
It’s in those moments of breaking that His power becomes most visible.

Check out an excerpt from my upcoming book, “The Weight of Warfare.”

For too long, “strong” meant stoic — a kind of quiet endurance that numbed emotion for the sake of appearance. It meant smiling when I was shattered, showing up when I was spent, and pretending to be at peace while privately drowning. I thought composure was a character trait, and silence was a sanctified state. But somewhere between exhaustion and encounter, God began to whisper: “Daughter, that’s not strength, that’s survival.”

He began to redefine what “strong” truly meant. He showed me that real strength isn’t found in pretending you’re unshakable, but in surrendering to the One who cannot be shaken. It’s not in being cold, closed-off, or controlled — it’s in being surrendered, sustained, and Spirit-led. True strength doesn’t come from suppressing emotion; it flows from submitting to God’s empowerment.

BIRTHED FROM THE ASHES

The Weight of Warfare was birthed in the ashes — in the middle of my own unraveling, where God rebuilt my faith piece by piece.
It’s not just a book. It’s a battle cry for every woman who’s ever looked strong but felt shattered.
It’s a reminder that you can be both broken and bold, both weary and worshipful, both crushed and called.

YOUR CHALLENGE THIS WEEK:

  1. Check on your strong friend.
Don’t assume they’re okay because they always “seem” okay. Send the text. Make the call. Pray for them out loud.

  2. If you are the strong friend, dare to be seen.
Share your truth with someone you trust. Let yourself exhale. Let someone hold space for you. Vulnerability is not weakness — it’s worship.
