I Taught Sacred Stillness… But Honestly, I Received It Too
When the teacher becomes the student
CONFIDENT LIFT | 4.6.26
Last weekend at Shangri-La, I walked in ready to pour.
I had my notes. My flow. My intention to guide women into sacred stillness.
But somewhere between the first breath… and the first tear that fell…
God gently reminded me:
“This isn’t just for them. This is for you too.”
We anchored everything in this scripture:
“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10
And I think a lot of us love that verse…
But if we’re honest?
We don’t always know how to actually be still.
Because our bodies are used to noise.
To movement and pushing through.
And that’s where something really important clicked this weekend.
We’ve been teaching regulation backwards.
Most people are taught:
“Here’s the technique… now try to calm down.”
Breathe like this. Think like this. Do this.
But here’s the truth we leaned into all weekend:
Technique doesn’t create transformation.
The body does.
If your nervous system doesn’t feel safe…
no technique will fully land.
You can say the affirmation.
You can quote the scripture.
You can try to breathe through it.
But if your body is still in fight, flight, or survival mode…
It won’t stick.
So instead of starting with technique…
We started with the body.
We slowed down.
We paid attention to what we were feeling… not just what we were thinking.
We created safety first.
And do you know what happened?
Women began to soften.
Tears flowed.
Shoulders dropped.
Breaths deepened.
Not because we forced a moment…
But because their bodies finally felt safe enough to let go.
And I watched real transformation happen.
Not loud. Not performative.
But deep.
The kind that doesn’t just feel good in the moment…
it shifts you.
And while I was guiding them through it…
I felt my own body exhale too.
Because again… I wasn’t just teaching this.
I was receiving it.'
So if you’ve ever felt like,
“I’m doing all the right things, but I still feel off…”
It might not be that you’re doing it wrong.
It might be that your body hasn’t been invited into the process yet.
Here are 3 simple ways to start regulating your nervous system daily:
1. Start with your body, not your thoughts.
Before you try to “fix” how you feel… pause.
Notice your breath.
Relax your shoulders.
Place your hand on your chest.
Let your body know it’s safe first.
2. Give yourself micro-moments of stillness.
You don’t need an hour.
Start with 2–5 minutes.
No phone. No noise.
Just sit, breathe, and be present.
Consistency matters more than duration.
3. Release before you try to receive.
Sometimes we’re asking God for more… while still holding onto everything.
Journal it. Pray it. Say it out loud.
Let it out of your body so peace has somewhere to land.
This is exactly what we experienced together in Sacred Stillness.
Not just learning…
But embodying.
Not just hearing about peace…
But actually feeling it.
And I want to invite you into this experience.
