Creed Was Born for This And so were you

What an 8-year-old's birthday wish taught me about surrendered faith, divine provision, and the fearless calling God places on a life

A Few Weeks from Now,
My Son Turns Nine.

And I want to tell you something beautiful that has been unfolding right before my eyes, something that has brought me to tears more than once, and something I believe God placed on my heart to share with you today.

For months now, my son Creed has been carrying a vision. Not just a dream or the kind of thing children forget between breakfast and recess. A vision he woke up with, prayed about, and kept returning to. He has been carrying a Camp Creed birthday vision where his friends would gather not just for cake and games, but for adventure with purpose.

When he first described it to me… the camp-style activities, the faith-filled atmosphere, the mission heart woven into every detail, I smiled on the outside. But on the inside? I was quietly carrying the weight of the impossible. I was carrying many reasons why his vision was greater than the season we were in.

Three Reasons It Didn't Make Sense

Let me be honest with you, because this community has always been a place of real, raw, and redeemed truth. Here is where I stood when this dream landed in my lap:

  • A Season of Financial Strain

The resources weren't there. Not yet. And everything in the natural said this was not the moment to host an elaborate camp-style birthday party.

  • Uncertainty in the Waiting

After years of legal proceedings, the final hearing is approaching, and I have been navigating the unknown around what may be a new visitation schedule. So my calendar felt like shifting sand.

  • No Space to Host It

I didn't have the backyard. I didn't have the accommodations. Camp Creed needed a home I simply didn't have on my own as we live in a townhome with a small patio area that’s just not conducive for what Creed was describing.

And yet, the vision didn't leave. I’m not going to lie. I even tried talking him out of it because I was looking at my own resources and not God as THE SOURCE. But this vision kept breathing. Creed kept dreaming. And somewhere in the quiet of my prayer time, I stopped trying to figure out the how and simply asked God to show me the way.

And Then God Showed Up

I want you to hold this truth in your heart today: what God ordains, He sustains. When I stopped striving and started surrendering, the path began to open.

God didn't just whisper a vague comfort. He gave me specific and clear direction. He showed me who to call, who to partner with, and how to take the first obedient step. And with each phone call made in faith, a door swung open without hesitation. The dream began piecing together, detail by detail, like a mosaic only God could design.

I am overwhelmingly grateful for every person who chose to come alongside this vision. People who said yes. People who showed up. People who believed in an 8-year-old boy's God-given dream. That is the body of Christ in action. And Camp Creed will be a vision to reality testimony.

Camp Creed: Where Adventure Meets Purpose

Witnessing God bring this God-sized idea to life brings me back to the prophecy spoken about him while he was still in my womb and I didn’t even know I was pregnant. Pastor Lindsey said many things but this one line keeps standing out to me, “find it not strange the things he will do at a young age…”

Dear God, I see it. Creed is…

A Warrior for Christ.

While he was still in my womb, God allowed a prophecy to be spoken over his life. Words that made me blink. Words that required a kind of faith I wasn't sure I had yet. She said:

“Kisha, call me crazy but God said you are pregnant with a son. He said, you are carrying a son that will be a warrior for Christ just like his momma. Find it not strange the things he will do at a young age as he will be resurrecting oil for multiple nations. God said, that he would travel to many nations spreading the gospel of Jesus and it will began at a young age. He also said that you, Kisha, was chosen specifically by God to nurture his gifts because He can trust you. Call me crazy but… go to the doctor tomorrow and you will find yourself pregnant.

There were many reasons I did NOT want to believe this. I was separated from my then husband, and filing for a divorce. I was told I couldn’t have children just four months prior, which was a relief because I never wanted to have children with my ex-husband. I couldn’t see the gift in what she was saying because I was living in trauma. I was even highly depressed and went through in-depth trauma counseling while I was pregnant because I couldn’t connect while carrying him…

But the moment he arrived, I couldn’t imagine my life without him.

And so fast forward to this season. Creed stood before me describing a birthday party that sounded less like a party and more like church camp, complete with a mission, a message, and a giving campaign for children across the globe, I thought of Josiah.

Josiah became king at eight years old. Eight. And the Bible tells us he "did what was right in the eyes of the Lord." He led revival. He restored the covenant. He changed the trajectory of a nation, and he did it all before most young men had even found their footing. God has never been intimidated by age.

"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity."

— 1 Timothy 4:12

Don't let the voice in your head that says "not yet" or "not anymore" silence the calling on your life. The enemy uses age as a weapon in both directions, convincing the young they are not ready, and convincing the seasoned that their moment has passed.

But Creed didn't wait until he had a big platform. He didn't wait until he was "old enough." He had a God-given vision at 8 years old, he prayed about it, and he moved. And as his mother, watching provision show up in miraculous ways, I am reminded that impact has no age requirement.

You, whether you are 19 or 79, have a calling that did not expire. Your next chapter is not your last chapter. Your obedience today is writing the legacy that outlasts you. Don't wait to be worthy by men when God has already called you chosen.

Below are some tips to help you walk worthy in your calling.

5 Ways to Walk in Your Calling
Right Where You Are

  1. Pray for Specificity, Not Just Strength

Creed's dream didn't come to life through generalized prayer. I asked God specifically to show me who, and show me how. Get granular in your conversations with God. He is not vague with those who seek Him.

  2. Make the Obedient Phone Call

The doors opened when I picked up the phone. Your calling often advances through one courageous, obedient step. Who do you need to call? What email have you been drafting in your head for months? Send it today.

  3. Reframe the "Impossible" Season

I was in financial strain, legal uncertainty, and without the right space, and God still moved. Stop waiting for a perfect season to begin. The pressure you are feeling might be the very thing shaping your purpose.

  4. Let Others Come Alongside Your Vision

We are conditioned to do it alone. But God sends people. Let them in. Receive the help. The vision was never meant to be carried solo, it was meant to build community in the carrying of it.

  5. Raise World-Changers, Not Just Well-Behaved Children

Nurturing your child's spiritual gifts is one of the most powerful acts of kingdom building you can do. Pay attention to what they are drawn to. What they pray about. What breaks their heart. God is often speaking through them.
